Hostmanship

"For years I have been asking people to tell me the last time they received special treatment. Something that happened to them that left such a strong impression they had to tell their friends. Usually they are quiet for a while before saying: 'Umm, let me think … well, there was that time when I wanted to complain about … They treated me well, but that was a while ago.'

What I’m interested in are memories of visits where they encountered an attitude, a language and a personal manner that made them feel welcome, almost expected. Where they found what I call Hostmanship."

A Source of Inspiration

Hostmanship is a source of inspiration that sheds light on what part hostmanship plays when people meet. How to develop pride and profit in our organizations, our country and above all, ourselves, are questions dealt with in the book.

The book forms the basis for many of our seminars and is already in use at several educational institutions around the country.

The authors are Jan Gunnarsson and Olle Blohm. It was translated into English by David Wegweiser, a skilled American translator who lived in Sweden for several years, where he among other things, ran his own company. Our publishing house is Dialogos.

Hostmanship is a companion and an excellent introduction to the Swedish way of managing businesses. The book is full of authentic and enjoyable stories and graphic examples on the authors’ meeting with Hostmanship in real life. It is an easy read but a truly enriching experience.
